As soon as I saw the sketch, I started turning it and viola, there it was, a Christmas tree! For the tree, I got out all of my green scraps. Many of these I had already cut into strips. Then I got out five different border punches and started making my layers. I used two layers per punch. The tricky part was trying to cut the diagonal on the strip and still have it look pretty.
After I had assembled my tree, I started decorating. I got out all of my left over pearl flourishes. (I tend to cut a little off each time I use them and of course, I save that scrap!) It took quite a while to match the pearls up to make garland. But I do like how it turned out. Then I added lots of gems. Lastly, I didn't have a star, so I used a Prima center (say it in studs) and added some tiny gems to the center of it also.
I used a Meljen's digi for the kitty in the window and colored with Copic markers. I made the little curtain topper and shaded it just a little. This project was quite time consuming. But I LOVE how it looks. The gems and the pearls catch the light and it really shines!
Thank you so much for a great sketch Taylor! Thank you for stopping by to take a peek!

WOW this is quite the tree!! It's multi layered green borders of every shade and fancy cut is only out done by the dazzling jewels adorning it.I LOVE your Prima centerpiece(who needs a star when you've got this??). Great red striped wallpaper for bg and cute as a button kitty sitting by the window looking for Santa...FABULOUS!!

Well, now that it's all done, do you feel like you've just put up your tree for Christmas? I know I'd feel that way! You must have had a lot of time on your hands and you definitely have lots of patience to have created this awesome card, Kathleen! Your tree is beautiful and cleverly decorated, and that little kittie perched in the window, if that isn't Christmas, nothing is~ : )

What an adorable card Kathleen! I never would have thought to flip the sketch and make a Christmas Tree!!!! So very clever. I just love all the layers on your tree. Talk about "putzy". You must have great patience, for I would have been very frustrated putting all those pieces together.
