Angela, aka Arizona Maine, did a gorgeous cake for the Dirty Dozen CTO612 challenge Wedding Cake by Arizona Maine at Splitcoaststampers
and put the challenge to me to make a cake also. I had to get prior obligations completed before I could get started on this challenge from Angela.
To be honest, I don't know that this looks like a wedding cake or just some fancy decorated boxes that are embellished with diamonds, pearls, and lace. I am okay with the end result, though I haven't the faintest idea of what I will do with it.
I started with 2 heart shaped paper mache' boxes and some pretty minty green c/s from Provo Craft that is 24" in length. You need that length to get the whole circumference with one sheet for the larger heart. The tops of the boxes are painted to look more like a cake. The lace is just below where the lid ends and pearls are glued on. The ribbon is wrapped around the 2 hearts, thus joining them together. I had made a bunch of the CLD cherry blossoms, but they were just too big for this wee cake, so I ended up using Prima flowers and gluing a crystal in the center. The pearl do- hickeys are from the wedding dept at Mike's.
I played with several different things to put on the bottoms of the cakes, but didn't want to over do or muck up the whole thing with liquid pearls.
The big heart this cake sits on is from the big CLD heart die set.
Angela, when and if you see this, I did it! Though I do have to say, your cake is far better. I really need to practice more on the rolled roses!

Oh, it's "cake" alright, and I'd slap the hand that tried to cut into it! This is gorgeous!!!

I think you are right, it looks more like just some decorated boxes. But what pretty boxes. It would be a nice decorator piece for a pink girls room. Lots of work on it, more than I would feel like doing.

Jennifer your boxes are awesome. I love the lace trim on them. This would be so cute as a gift with some candy inside or something blingy like a bracelet or earrings. Exquisite!

Your cake and or beautiful heart shaped boxes are gorgeous!! I love to see things like this, but am not likely to make them. The lace is gorgeous. I could imagine a young girl keeping her jewelry in there.
