I thought the small card made from the Spellbinder dies in Beate's video really framed the image well and could work for framing a couple of welcome baby cards. Here are my lessons learned:
1. If you are using the Cuttlebug run the die through at least two times, AND flip it once (not flip over, more of a rotating flip (so that the sides are now the top and bottom on the plate, and the top and bottoms are now on the sides) for a cleaner cut.
2. I used Tinsel Town and Pink Lipstick Glimmer Glam since I haven't picked up the Clearsnap product yet. I was going to use Glimmer Glaze (because it has the same brush that Beate likes) but I found it to be too liquid for this technique.
3. To add a little more glimmer (for the sake of the photo); while the Glimmer Glam was still wet, I dragged the edges of the Graphic 45 paper through some Dazzling Diamonds. Since the dazzling diamonds is mixed in within the Glam --when it dries the effect is beautiful like the vintage tinsel and it is permanent (to Beate's point).
4. The sentiment inside is from SUs "God's Blessings" set and says "A baby is a gift from heaven above - bringing joy down to earth, filling hearts full of love." I will use these as welcome baby gift cards to attach to the gift boxes.
5. FYI on the paper: This is the second vintage paper showing a respect for diversity (which I really appreciate. The little boy appears to be African American.) I don't think this missing element in vintage has anything to do with racism - IMO it has to do with the segregation of those times (so mixed-race photography was very uncommon).
Sorry in advance for having so much to say about this - it was too much fun!!
Big thanks to our Inspiration Challenge hostess Anne and to Beate for her WONDERFUL tutorials!! I love them both for helping me to create!
Enjoy!
