This is a technique I've tried a few times - usually when a challenge calls for using paint . So today I took it up one notch by using a metallic acrylic paint. I will say that I found it much harder to sand down for the distress stage than I remember with regular paints.
A2 base, painted with gold acrylic paint.
Next layer is sponged with Vintage Photo distress stain.
Distress layer - painted the card with gold and came back after the housework. I embossed it with Venus from Craft Concepts, sanded and sponged with Vintage Photo.
Image is from Flourishes Calendar Year stamped on watercolour paper with Versafine Black and coloured with distress inks. It's layered on more card sponged with Vintage Photo/painted with the gold paint.
Sentiment is from HA, cut with a Spellbinders tag and attached with some organza ribbon.

Soooo elegant, Sabrina. I got as far as painting my background with copper, but then it wasn't dry, so won't get to it until after done babysitting. Hope I can make as beautiful as this one is!

Sabrina, you did a great job on the distress embossing. I love your beautiful rose image, coloured so wonderfully! The red sheer ribbon is a perfect finishing touch!
