Her name? Hmm...not that I don't know, but it's one of those weird things I don't know WHY! Her given name was Ionie, but she ALWAYS went by Onie. And she was a precious Grandmother to one of my dearest friends. My friend was only 15 when Onie went to Heaven. And still, Onie brings smiles at her remembrance.
I do not know what her favorite color was. She did not wear bright colors. Guess most of her "house dresses" were like a rose print, maybe in pinks or blues? But when she dressed up she wore, black, navy, or dark grays. The hat I remember (and so WISH I had) was black with black tulle netting on it!
So, in memory of Onie, and in the thankfulness of friendship- here is the lil black hat, complete with tulle.
Hugs...you know who you are! (smile...)

Well...now you've gone and done it...made me teary eyed. And, I've been so weepy lately anyway. What a sweet memory you posted and then a little display to help us visualize it. Your friend will see her Onie again one day. Besides all the sweet stuff, I have to telll you that the pearl set and that rose "brooch" are just adorable. And the crochet trim on the sleeves. Talk about "delighting in the details." Thanks, Pat, for a sweet, sweet piece.

I think everyone's Grandma (of that era) wore those house dresses (never slacks) and the navys, grays, browns and blacks were for 'good'! This is a lovely card and thank you for bringing back some warm memories of my Mum-eye.

God bless Onie - with the little details on your card - the hat, the brooch, the pearls , the lace trim - she embodies all the memories I have of my grandmother as well - all things that delight us now as we look back and imagine! So thoughtful of you to remember Onie in this way for your dear friend and bring a smile to her heart. [[[hugs]]]

Just the best, sweetie. Your heart reminds me of Mary Poppins bag. You just keep reaching in and pulling out the best little treasures from a seeming bottomless supply, but I know Who keeps giving you free refills I LOVE the tulle on this and your bathing beauty (I can just hear you: "THAT would look good on a card!!" Oh yes it would;)

This is just awesome, Pat! I especially love those handmade flowers with the black microbead centers. In the General Stamping Talk forum, you're in the FAVORITES for the week ending February 12, 2012. See post #22. Congratulations!
