I made this one-layer card for my grown-up nephew's birthday. He is a professional musician so I thought this Taylored Expressions stamp set called "You're my Hero" was the perfect choice! LOVE this set - it is sooo coool!
I inked up the grungey background image with Faded Jeans Distress ink, misted it with water using my Mini Mister then stamped it on my white cs base and stamped it again in a different spot (without re-inking) so I had another image but looking more faded. I then inked up the same image with Wild Honey Distress ink, misted it with water then stamped that over the blue image and then again without re-inking. Because Distress inks react with water, I ended up with a bit of a mix of the two colours in various spots which I really like.
I rounded the corners on the top and bottom RH corners with a SU corner punch then stamped the bottom LH corner and top RH corner the same way I did the grungey background.
I used my Ranger Ink Blending Tool and foam pad with Wild Honey ink and went around the edges of the card then did the same with Faded Jeans ink.
Once I had done that, I used a heat-gun to dry off the card then used my Stamp Positioner to stamp the guitar, guitar neck/fret board and the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I used a black Bic Mark-it texta to colour in the tuners on the guitar neck so they would stand out better from the background.
To add the sparkly punched black stars around the image: I had initially punched some stars and added glitter glue to them but they didn't look as nice as what I hoped and the glitter looked all uneven so I had to come up with something better - which is as follows:
I started with a scrap piece of black cardstock, pressed my Versamark Watermark ink pad onto it then poured on Polysparkle clear embossing powder and heat-set it. Easy peasy way of making some glittery cardstock! Then all I had to do was use my Carl CP-1 (small) star and CP-2 (large) star punches to punch them out. I know it is hard to see the sparkle from this photo but I have close-up photos on my blog and they look really fab IMHO!
Lastly, I added two tiny matching raw sienna brads next to the sentiment to balance the card.
I am entering my card into the Crazy 4 Challenges C4C118 challenge of - New year….new ‘toys’…..new techniques. Do or use something NEW on your card/project. My new thing is the TE stamp set and also the technique I used for making the sparkly stars. I have deets and links on this challenge on my blog.

What a fabulous card. I love that image with all the cool colors and enjoyed reading about how you did it. I love these sets with the multiple colors and images - the look is awesome.
