At our dinner table recently, the subject of advent calendars came up. A friend of mine sewed ones for ours sons when they were very young. Each year I fill them and hang them on their bedroom doors. Our oldest son's girlfriend, mentioned that she'd never had an advent calendar and said how lucky she thought our sons were. That's where my inspiration came from to make this advent calendar. I am going to surprise her with it on November 30th.
Please note that I chose not to use the numbers supplied in the blank advent calendar drawer kit. I felt they were too large, so I used my husband's label maker and made smaller numbers which I affixed to each finished drawer. That way, I could have much more fun "decorating". I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I didn't have to buy any extra embellishments for this project, which is kind of telling as to how many embellishments I have in my stash, but at least I'm using them for "good". I hope Erika will like this calendar and use it in years to come. I've filled each box with her favorite, dark chocolate! Yum! Thanks for stopping by!

Can you adopt me for the holidays?? I love this advent calendar and the whole idea of them. Our SU demo considered having us make one, but she said they would be awfully expensive. You are the sweetest mom to always fill your son's calendars, and I am sure that you will make Erika extremely happy with this. Bless your heart! :>)
