Our Daily Bread Designs challenge for this week is to make your own embellishment, (dye your own seam binding, make your own flowers, make your own buttons or stickpins and etc.) on your creation. See all the details Saturday, October 8, 2011 ODBD's Design Blog and use the keyword ODBDSLC79 so we can enjoy your creations too! Make certain you link your card to the blog.
This week I chose a Scripture from a newly released set, Christmas Door. I wanted to show how versatile this set is by using the Scripture for something other than Christmas.
My hand made embellishments are the flowers and stick pin. I am amazed every time I have the chance to watch my sweet friend Tosha (Stamps4funinCa) stamp. Her skills are incredible, and she taught me how to make flowers using a MS punch. (The one I use looks like a small four leaf clover) Each bloom takes two punches, and I sponge yellow in the centers. Scoring to add veins to the petals before placing a zot between the off-set centers, I use a skewer to press them together on a soft surface which forces the petals to come up. Now there is a small well in the center, and I add a dot of Crystal Effects, and cover it with small gold beads. Once dry, the blooms are applied to the card with a hot glue gun, and are surrounded with leaves from the MS Branch Punch and Cheery Lynn Fanciful Flourish die cut. The embossed panel in the background uses Spellbinders Fleur di lis Rectangles as a frame.
Thanks for looking. This card is special to me because it reminds me of my mom, who loved magnolias. I added the last bit of my favorite lace, because I think she would like that too.

Oh, Pat, how beautiful and elegant. The flowers are just wonderful (and thank you for sharing a little tutorial on making them). The colors are lovely, the dies are perfect and the verse amazing. That lace is the prettiest I've seen! Your card abounds with loving memories for your Mom!

Those flowers are amazing....thanks for sharing how you made them, I think its those gold beads that really dress them up. The lace and Cheery Lynn die just really dress it all up. Of course the scripture says it all - I am filled with Joy reading it and feasting my eyes upon it. Hope to jump back into some of the Our Daily Bread Designs challenges this next week, once I FINALLY get my room together.....in the meantime enjoying your lovely work. Hugs.

Pat this card is beautiful. I love your flowers. I saw the metal thing your hat pin is in at Michaels. I loved the way the metal things looked but was unsure what to do with. Now I understand, tfs. I am sure your mom would love the lace and flowers, this card rocks.

Oh, Sis, those flowers are drop dead GORGEOUS!! I know your Mom inspired you to make them look so good!! So glad you shared how you made them (although you make it sound so EASY, I am sure they take a lot of time!!) That stick pin is a LOVELY addition to those blooms and your branches and leafy flourish with the lace trailing through are a most beautiful setting for this joyful verse!
Your Mom is smiling on you now, I bet! LYMI! HUGS!
