Today's Inspiration Challenge - Daniel Maher Stained Glass Studio... what a gorgeous site... Stef, you outdid yourself this week! I chose this as my inspiration... http://www.dmstainedglass.com/montgomery.htm
Reminds me of the stained glass windows in my hometown church which was destroyed by fire in 2008.... but we had a dedication for the new church in November 2010!
Needless to say, this is not a card but a wood working project. I got into Intarsia a few years ago and this is one of my favorite projects. Used Maple, Poplar, & Walnut woods to complete the project. Each piece is an individual cut made to precisely fit next to each other. The fingers were the most difficult to do... Each piece is then sanded on the top edges and, when assembled, gives the piece dimension. There is no paint but rather a finish on the woods which are in their natural colors. Each piece is then adhered onto Luan Plywood cut in the shape of the praying hands. I then attached a keyhole hanger on the back... so when you hang it, you only see the shape of the hands and the edge of the sleeves. The photo was taken on my sofa and is not part of the project. It took many, many hours but was well worth the time & effort. I have a woodworking workshop and the men in the neighborhood borrow my tools... I love it when that happens!!!

This is BREATHTAKING! My dad was a master wood worker and this immediately caught my eye for it's beautiful use of the colors of the wood and the detail of your cuts. And as for the men borrowing your tools, just make sure that they bring them back.

Linda, you are truly amazing. Obviously as adept with wood working tools as you are with paper and stamps. I'm truly impressed!! This is a gorgeous piece and so beautifully done. TFS your projects and woodworking art with us.
