A new friend of mine recently explained to me that she and her siblings always try to outdo each other come Mother's Day in providing their mother with the most beautiful, and most loving, card. Her mother displays all of her children's cards on a mantle on Mother's Day.
My new friend discovered I made cards and asked if I could do something that would "knock the socks off" her mother, and of course, make her siblings envious. When I asked her what colours her Mum likes, she replied, "I don't care - the card's from me and I like neutral, earthy looks - that's the colours I want on my card!" And the other item this card "had to have", in accordance with my new friend's wishes, was the words, "I love Mum".
Not having any siblings myself, I've never really understood the sibling rivalry thing, but hey, when it comes to giving me a challenge for a card, how could I say no??
So, I saw this technique on SCS recently (I believe it was a Technique Challenge) and couldn't wait to try it. I'd seen a few cards made to look like sets of drawers for babies and thought it was just the cutest idea.
I decided to design my card to resemble a dressing table. The oval on the card is meant to be a mirror and I've used vellum over some Very Vanilla cardstock. I've embossed just one corner of the vellum oval to give that frosted glass impression - something a little bit antiquey!!!
Would love to know what you think.

PS: My new friend loved the card - she believes this will quash any attempts by her siblings to "better" her cards in years to come!!!! LOL!!!!
Ooops - forgot to add that the card base was started at the standard US Size full piece of cardstock - 8.5" x 11" is it?????
