Hi! This card was made for this week's Stampin' B's Challenge: Navy and Green with Stripes, Dots or Plaid. I made it FIT today's Ways To Use it Challenge. I slipped in a panel that was "pinked" with a REAL pair of Pinking Shears. I think the panel was EXACTLY what this card needed today!
When I was young, my mother sewed ALL the time. She made ALL my school clothes except my tights, underwear and shoes. She even made the headbands I wore. And, I LOVED everything. She added the best details to clothes! I had cool stitching on the legs of my bellbottom JEANS she made! She covered my book bag, (this was BEFORE kids had backpacks!), with studs and gemstones. I had velor outfits in hot pink, turquoise, and lime! And, so many of the other kids loved them, that their mothers would PAY my mother to make them for their children! My mother worked in what she called her "sewing room." Actually, now that I think about it, there was a FULL size freezer, a washer and dryer, Dad's desk, 2 filing cabinets and a bunch of stuff that I would have put in a garage...Oh, we didn't have one...Well, that explains why there was motor oil, jumper cables and SNOW TIRES in Mother's sewing room! LOL Anyway, there were RULES to Mother's sewing room. Kids were NOT allowed in there. Period. If you even THOUGHT about going in there, she'd put you in the corner. And, Heaven forbid you even walked near the door and LOOKED in, you were sent to your room to "play." I spent a lot of time in my room....LOL Anyway, I remember the big "fight" my parents had.... I heard: "What are you doing in here?!!!" "Nothing!" "Nothing?! What are you trying to hide behind your back, Todd?" "Oh, um....I needed to cut a piece of string." "Oh, hun, no problem. Sorry, about that. Where's the string?" "Umm...never mind, I'll do it later." "Later? You have the string? Let's see it. Here, I've got my sewing shears right here." Silence....then: "TODD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my WORD!!!!! That's a ROPE!!! You better run! I swear, I EVER catch you in my sewing room again and I'll put you in a CORNER!!!! Don't you even THINK about sneaking in here to cut that rope! GIVE IT TO ME!!!" "Oh, OUCH! Frances, that hurts! Stop it!!!! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Yep...I didn't touch that woman's scissors ever. Until she passed away. I used her pinking shears on this card. I swear, I can hear her SCREAMING at Dad for giving me her stuff right now...
The "frame" is a Spellbinders die. I added dots to it for the Stampin' B's Challenge. If you can see the background, I embossed the "stripes" on it with a Sizzix die. I used GREEN Plaid for the small tabs. So, I hit the Trifecta for that one!
The tree was inked with Memento Markers. I love that it's a silhouette stamp...I just colored ALL the leaves with the lightest green and just kept adding in green colors until it was nice and wet! I inked the trunk with a Brown Memento Marker. The background was sprayed in with my Copic Airbrush.
What do you think?

LOl,I love your story Faith. My stamping room was the same when my kids were little, although one of my sons did cut the cord for the iron right in two with my good scissors - and it was plugged in at the time! I don't know how he escaped injury!
Oh yeah, the card. It's lovely, as always. wink wink
