Hello! This card was made for todayÂ’s Sketch Challenge. (I decided to make this a square card, as I had this cool background paper scrap, and it just didnÂ’t fit on the rectangular card.)
I have been on a Safari tour in South Africa, in the Veld or Veldt areas. It was very educational, since it was a “Teachers’ Outing.” I learned that the grassy savannahs and the areas we traveled were home to beautiful creatures like elephants and giraffes. It got to a point where I had over 100 rolls of film shot of just elephants! I LOVE these creatures. I spent hours sketching. And, a few months ago, Mother, before she passed, gave me the sketch books I had tossed in the trash when I got divorced over 12 years ago. I have to thank her, because this elephant is from one of those sketch books! It’s over 20 years old!
The tree and sentiment were stamped in Adirondack’s Espresso. Next, I punched a 1 ¾” hole in a scrap piece of paper and used my Copic Airbrush to create the sun by spraying into the hole.
The elephant was stamped in Palette Hybrid Ink onto Wowza Watercolor paper. Next, I used Memento Markers and an aqua painter to color the elephant.
All the papers and embellishments are from a Premium Paper Craft Pack.
Finished card size: 5” square
Total time to complete: 47 minutes

Great story - how lovely that your mum saved those books. Mine kept my letters from when I worked in the UK, but I doubt they'll turn up till my Dad dies or moves house. I love the silhouette giraffes on the red diagonal, and I love the elephant face.
