I needed a St Pat's card so I took PTI's Make it Monday #4 Challenge and created this card. Unfortunately, no matter how I angled the light and/or camera the top part of the carnation always got washed out. But, for those of you who celebrate, you might recognize my effort to recreate a St. Pat's green carnation. We wore them to work on St. Pat's Day every year.
The Eyelet Lace diecut is green "fun foam" layered onto a gold Eyelet Lace diecut which was cut down the middle to make a mat. The carnation is made out of tissue paper (24 layers) that came packaged with my PTI stamps. I used one of my new Delightful Doilies dies to cut 24 layers out. I folded the tissue over and over etc. until I could cut 8 layers at one time. I layered and crumpled them until they were looking like a carnation. Then I used a green dye inkpad and hit all the edges with it and when I was satisfied I spritzed the whole thing with water to make the green bleed. After it dried, I fluffed it up again, poked a hole in the center and put a clear brad in the center. I cut an extra doily made from cardstock and glued the tissue flower onto that and then onto the card. The flower was really, really easy and so fun. I also added paper piercing around the perimeter of the green cardstock. The sentiment is handwritten with a gel pen.
Thanks for looking! I hope my card helps to inspire you to make a card.

What a lovely card. So much glorious green and it works wonderfully! I feel inspired to make something using this brilliant jewel-toned color it is so striking with the green. You can tell I am smitten, huh? ;-) Fun bloom too.
