This technique I've actually named monochromatic castaway encaustic. You take a castaway card that just didn't turn out. If you overwork a card with too many colors, it sort of turns to YUK. Then, you reheat the wax and you get one uniform color. In my case, a relatively pretty blue green grey. Then, you take a tissue and wipe off the top third of the card to create sky. After that, you take the tip of the iron, push up and you have pretty peaks or in my case, icebergs. Rub off a bit in the middle and you have a lake. Quickly lift the iron on the bottom of the card creating a suction sort of affect and you have the foliage/grass.
Voila! a monocromatic iceberg landscape
