Always late for the party here is my entry for the Try a New Technique No:308 challenge!
The challenge was to use silhouettes and this really was a challenge for me on so many different levels.
I usually avoid heat embossing like the plague but forced myself to go out of my comfort zone and persevere with it (I love the effect but am soooooo rubbish at it!)
Also my choice of images was VERY limited by the fact that I only own a measly ONE silhouette stamp!
Here in 2011 I have also set myself a personal challenge of creating more CAS style cards and hopefully this effort may go some way to doing that.
I don't own any embossing/die cutting machines, so the embossed woodgrain background was done by hand using a Fiskars Texture plate. (I find dry embossing really relaxing!)
Fortunately this sympathy card was not made for any specific bereavement but I just felt that the colours and image loaned itself to that sort of card.
I really hope you like it and THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking the time to stop by my little corner of SCS x

Gorgeous! So elegant! I gave away my heat gun, but may have to re-invest. Getting the heat just right so it doesn't ripple the paper is tricky, but embossing sure does dress up a card.

For such limited supplies, I think you did an awesome job with your card. I'm very impressed with your hand embossing and with your heat embossing! You need to give yourself way more credit. Great job! Best, Curt

This is beautiful and an inspiration for a card I need to make. I want to use Lovely as a Tree and your card is a wonderful winter variation to use w/this set! TFS!
