I must say that this Butterfly Box/Basket from an old TLC was the first thing that crossed my mind when I read Julia's challenge today, but I wanted to play with my new bamboo stamp . With that out of the way I started work on this, but I think I should have left it till tomorrow when I was fresher... TLC223 here with a link to the template for the box in the first post.
My idea was to incorporate the idea that snowflakes are winter's butterflies, so instead of printing the box on DP I printed it on white card. For the summer side I used Lovely as a Tree stamped with StazOn brown, and then coloured the whole side with chalks. After spraying (over-spraying :-() with fixative I stamped on a tiny little PB butterfly twice, coloured them orange with re-inker and added clear Sakura Stardust. For the winter side I stamped the bare trees from Lovely as a tree. Then little snowflakes, with silver ink and silver EP. Then dark blue chalk, a crescent moon and Polar White Flower Soft along the bottom. I used Silver Liquid Pearls round the edge of the winter side, and Lemon Yellow on the summer side. I used lace up the sides and for the handle - it goes under the base, where I stuck another layer of card the same size as the base to hold the lace firm.
