My nephew/Godson turns 16 today. Another new driver on the roads very soon... He's a great kid and sometimes he reminds us (with a grin) just how 'awesome' he is. (He's actually very modest about his achievements out in the 'big' world so we let him tell us that he's awesome.)
The "Thanks for being awesome" sentiment from the Verve set "Happy Hello" seemed perfect for his birthday card.
The Happy Birthday sentiment on the front is a M's $1.50 bin special. Stamped it, punched it and inked the edges with a few different colours then used the 'splat' stamp from the French Foliage set to finish it off.
I dug through my piles of hoarded designer papers and couldn't find anything that seemed to work for a card for a teen-aged boy. An 'aha' moment hit me (it was late so I wasn't at the top of my game) and I headed to my computer and started playing with some of the "stamps" from the Extreme Elements set. I opened them in my photo editing program (PhotoImpact) and proceeded to 'fill' the stamps with colours to match some of my SU cardstock. A little resizing, moving, layering and shadowing and I had a look I liked. I sized it to fit an A2 card front and printed it a couple of times on my page so I could cut out and pop up a couple of the stars and have some bits to dress up the inside of the card.
Added a strip of silver and a couple of brads to the front and a few more stars and some layers to highlight the sentiment on the inside.
My sister makes cards too so her boys are usually pretty good at actually looking at the cards they get too.
PT: Didn't set any new records for punch use, but there are some signs of punching having occurred. BTW, the stars are fussy-cut, not punched. Don't want to confuse anyone. ;-)

What a bright and, well, AWESOME card for a 16 YO nephew! These colors are fabulous. Fussy cutting on the stars duly noted. I love your unique approach to this card!

Well, Diz, you sure are getting technical on the ole Fruitflake here. What a great job you did pulling this together for your nephew. Teenagers are so hard to make cards for. I LOVE how you have all the images so as to not cause an uproar with a certain group - LOL!! Great job!! TFS!

This is a pretty amazing card. I like how the paper came out like a cross between swiss cheese and tie die....it is very techno and perfect for a teenage boy. You are one clever girl with the computer....I am so envious!!! Inside is awesome too!

Izzi, awesome work w/ the computer. I could NEVER do that. I have a hard enough time trying to resize the few digi images I have. Adding color, moving things - way beyound my computer skills. You sure done good!
