Here's my art for CCC #20 - industrial grunge. To be honest, I was dreading this challenge b/c I've never attempted it before, and wasn't for sure how I could make it delicate and vintage, after all, it is industrial. So here's my attempt at girly industrial grunge. I used the technique on the birdcage and bird with gold and copper mixatives. But the bird blended into the cage too much and made it hard to see, so I went over it with the pearl dabber and that resulted in a lovely gunmetal look that made the bird stand out a bit better. I painted my canvas with acrylics, overstamped along the edges with swirls and script in brown. I have these beautiful fibers that I made into a bird's nest with a bit of raffia and nestled the bird and it's nest into the cage once I had cut out some of the bars. Beautiful fall flowers from Prima really gave the canvas a special touch. I LOVE Prima flowers. I hope you enjoy and I ended up loving this technique.

Wow, Sarah, you did an amazing job of making Industrial Grunge delicate and feminine! This is absolutely beautiful, hun! The cage and the bird both look wonderful, and you got such a great contrast using the Pearl paint over the bird-- it's truly the color of a silvery dove! The background canvas is lovely as well, and you're so right-- those Prima flowers are stunning! The little nest? BRILLIANT!
I love all your work, but this might be my favorite yet! I'm glad you had so much fun with the technique. :-)
