Ah...the TSC! Happy Friday! This week the Twisted Sister challenge was brought to us by Phyllis (Tater) to make a card, based on our heritage. Funny thing about that. The story goes that the nut does not fall far from the tree. We shook our family tree once...buncha nuts fell out! Yeah, I know, it's old, but true!
I so wanted to be serious about this, but in my family, that just ain't happenin', yet. As far back as I can remember, Mom, Grams, everyone talked about life on the farm in upstate NY in New City. And "Uncle", (Grams oldest brother) still lives there at the ripe old age of 99. And he still rakes the yard! There are hundreds of stories about this place, and that seems where we always go back- to basics. Grams parents and grandparents built that farm when they migrated from England. And no matter what goes on in our family, we can always find time to laugh. That is our sanity at times. Hope you enjoy my lil funny farm.
If you would like to join the TSC, please do! Add the Keyword "TSC1015" so we can enjoy your heritage too!
The main image is my favorite from Clear Dollar Stamps, and was paper pieced using scraps of my favorite reds. The tree leaves were punched from scraps as well and I used my Kitty Kit to make the trunks. This was my first go with Daisy D's tape runner to make the stitching, and I think that needs a bit more practice, but I loved the black thread look.
Thanks for looking!
Psst...Giggles, you know we must be cousins, at least, huh? LYMI

As my Husband will testify I am NEVER lost for words but this card has done it!
Living in England, UK this beautiful creation immediately makes me think what rural USA must be like! (in my mind anyway!)
And the first thing that entered my head when I saw it was the film, the one and only "Wizard of Oz!" I can just see Dorothy & Toto coming out of those doors!
As you can see I am not really lost for words! as the above has just proved but I can think of no superlative that gives this true justice!

I also forgot to say how apparent it is how much work you have put into it. Whoever receives it will not only get a superb card but the gift of your valuable time x

Your card is awesome. Love the stitching, tree with mega leaves with buttons and your cute little barn. I have been searching, but I don't see the nuts that fell off the tree. LOL Super job on Tate's challenge.

Well from one nut* to another nut, this is a WOW card Miss Buttnik! SO many punched flowers. How'd you not glue yourself to this card? I love this, I love your story. I am still smiling. You Done Good. TFS :0)...*and I didn't have to fall out of a tree to be a nut. Did fall out of a barn tho, does that count? .... landed on my head and broke my arm. Must be the Polish in me. hehe

this is a masterpiece! Kind of reminds me of my childhood too. We had a barn, but not as nice as this one...and NO DOORS. I can't begin to image the workt that went into this card...
