This is for IC249 and here is a link to Santa's List http://www.worldmarket.com/product/i...ductId=4396405 that inspired my project. Creating this Santa has been a comedy of errors. I wanted to try and make him look vintage like the Santa in the inspiration piece. Needless to say it didn't work out. So I covered over my painting of the hair, beard and fur hat parts with liquid applique. The cheeks, nose and lips were too faded out and looked ugly on the designer paper I had chosento use so I painted them a little brighter red to get that look of the rosey red cheeks but ended up with them looking like big cherries. All the parts that had been covered with liquid applique looked too vanilla instead of white so I sponged white craft ink over all those parts and heat dried. I had the Nesties frame sitting in my paper scraps and thought Santa would look good framed. Ugh....It is an oblong frame on a square card. Oh well....who cares!!! It's a mess anyway! I finally decided that I was uploading this project even though Santa was not looking "his best" because I had worked too hard and long on it. It's proof that not every project has to be perfect to still get fulfillment out of the process of making it!

That just might be the best looking santa I've ever seen. Seriously, it reminds me of my childhood so whatever you think you did wrong ended up being so right!

To me he looks great - of course I'm in Virginia!
No seriously, I like your card. The rectangular frame looks very artsy on the square card and I like the texture of his beard, hair and fur parts. TFS.

Oh gosh, Kittie, sorry things didn't go as planned. Your card is really awesome and if you hadn't shared your troubles I would never suspect the story behind the scene. It is nice to know that even our DD alumni have their days as the rest of us have them often!

Holy Smokes Kitty- he is fabulous! Lol- I think each 'mistake' is a challenge that makes the card even better, and this one is proof! Love this jolly old elf, and the new way you are making magic with liquid applique. Wonderful!
