I needed a sympathy card and I needed it quick. I went rummaging thru the expandable folder that I toss odds and ends into. When I'm trying new techniques, or doing demos, the results (if I like them) go into the folder. It's my "go to" file when I need a card fast and have no time to get creative.
As I rummaged, I found a piece of polished stone that I'd made while showing someone how this technique is done. I pulled it out and set it aside.
Rummaging further, I found a faux linen sample I had done that didn't turn out to look like linen at all, but I liked it, so I kept it. The colors on it looked as tho they would go with the polished stone piece, so I pulled it out and laid them sided by side. Looked ok to me.
Next I went digging in my stash for some cardstock that would be in the right tone of green to go with the other things. Found the perfect color. I love when things come together easily!
Everything looked too flat and blah, so I bugged the polished stone piece. I ran a leafing pen around the edges of all the pieces...except the polished stone.
I stamped and gold embossed the verse on a scrap from cutting the base cardstock.
I layered it all together, using pop dots on the verse. I twiddled with ribbon, cord, brads, pearls, and corner embellishments, but didn't like the "fussy" look. I wanted to keep the card simple and subdued, so in the end, I left embellies off.
Inside the card reads: We care deeply about your loss, and share deeply in the sorrow you are feeling.
The card is for my brother-in-law and his children. My sister-in-law just passed away due to complications of diabetes.
The card looks much nicer irl.
