Whisical designs don't come easily to me and so I have been trying to practice lately. This was my latest practice piece.
I added some extra detail by smearing blue chalk with a cotton ball around the outside of white cardstock behind the butterfly to make it look a little more like sky. Then I cut the butterfly out using some very small embroidery scissors (I am not good with a craft knife on such small images!!)
To get a tight blue mat behind the white cardstock I turned the label die over, lightly taped it to the blue cardstock and traced around it with a sharp pencil. I then removed the die and used my embroidery scissors to cut the label out. This is a similar technique that Becca Feekan used on her blog, Amazing Paper Grace, except she uses a craft knife.
