My favorite part of this shaped birthday card is the pedestal. I started with a 5.5 square pretty in pink card base. I added the melon mambo layer as tall as I wanted the pedestal to be. I chose a nestabilities circle that would give me the negative space you see after cutting the two circles. I trimmed off the lower pieces of scrap to finish the pedestal shape. The top cupcakes are *tent toppers* because they stick off the top of the card. Finished card is approximately 5.5 x 7 inches.
I made the cupcakes after seeing a video by Legojenta: The video is a little long to tell you to punch the scallop border first, then center the scallop circle on that so that the edges of the cupcakes look right. Then cut the trapezoid shapes for the bases freehand and crimp them.
Lots of texture here--the chocolate frosting is a piece of glossy chocolate paper I saved from something. I had tried brown embossing on top of it, but it was a failure. However, the embossing gave the frosting a nubbley texture. Cool!
Inside says: Celebrate one cupcake at a time. (SU)
