This card is in honor of our Queen Sabrina (Cook22). What a fab gallery filled with many, many treasures. Congratulations!
Added as an option to the QFTD challenge, we could include a mom and dad story related to our stamp. Most of you know that music pretty much defines my mother's life. She teaches music and studies music and recently bought a drum set at age 83. Dad had a beautiful singing voice in his earlier years and sang while mom played piano. Music was the focus of many of our family get-togethers. Sadly, dad is no longer with us. So, this card is for mom.
My story, though, is not about music. It revolves around my dad's last illness and my mother's sudden serious illness--both of which occurred at about the same time--and how a husband of 62 years knows just what to say to make you all better.
Dad had been sick for years and was in and out of the hospital frequently. He had to give up driving, was pretty much confined to the house, watched TV, played computer games, and read and sent emails. Mom, on the other hand was healthy as a horse and was always on the go. Until one day, we were shocked to learn she had kidney cancer. She had major surgery and we were sure she would be fine in no time. That was not the case. Mom, who was always the strong one, was knocked flat and declined rapidly following surgery. She wouldn't eat, could barely move, wouldn't talk on the phone--we thought she was dying. (Except my brother thought she just needed a little push, a reason to get better.) So, dad, who was in the hospital at the same time, was dispatched via wheelchair to her room to persuade her to get up and get well. There she was weighing about 85 pounds, appearing near death, and dad (who could not speak above a whisper because of thyroid cancer) says (barely audible): "You've got to get well. You are the only one who can drive!" Well, that must have done it because it has been a year and half now and mom is going strong. (Though she frets when it is time for her next scan, which is coming up. So keep your fingers crossed that all is still well.)
This card is also for the F4A20 challenge to use something that you haven't used before. I had never used this stamp and the DP (Basic Gray's Capella) is new also.
Sorry to be so lonnnnnggggg winded.

Your story brought a tear to my eye! Reminds me of that song, "where have you been" or something like that. Anyway, WOW on the story. Wow on the card too. You knocked both out of the park today. I am speechless. TFS :0)

What a beautiful story of a man and a woman in love! Isnt it just amazing how a few spoken words can give someone the impetus to get up and get going. Yes, your mom is remarkable and I can totally see how music has dominated your world. What a gift to the world you mom has been. Knowing all this makes me realize how very fortunate we are to have your mom begin our challenge with her drum roll.
Lorie, your card is wonderful. Wont your mom just love receiving this. It's exquisite and such a beautiful reflection of how your mom has influenced your life and how music influences all of our lives.
