My 3 yr old nephew will soon be going on a trip and I was looking for something small & light to give him that would keep him occupied for some time. This is the result.
The board is a magnetic pattern holder usually used by cross stitchers. The background scene was made by stamping directly on the metal with staz-on, then coloured with sharpies. It was sealed with two coast of mod podge. The edges can sometimes be sharp, so I came up with the coloured duct tape edging. I'm not happy that I manage to get it so uneven, but when I tried to remove it to re-apply it, the mod podge seal was going to peel right off, so I left it as is.
The sea pieces were stamped with palette noir onto dp or white cs. Most were just cut out, though a few were coloured with SU! markers and/or paper pieced. They were then run through my xyron using the magnet/laminate combo cartridge and then cut out again.
This wasn't hard, but it was VERY time consuming. I hope my nephew enjoys it!
