Having seen this ribbon flowers springing up on the www, I thought I'd give it a try. Glad I did - it was easy-peasy. For this, I give credit to Dawn; I've posted a link to her tutorial below.
Detail yada yada:
My flower is made with ribbon purchased from HL for 1/2 off (like it is this week, wink wink) - good ol' HL. Don't know what I'd do w/o it.
I've done other flowers, but I prefer the look of the patterned ribbon personally. I adhered it to the cs with red liner tape. I just punched it out twice and set it side-by-side and it worked find (i.e. no need to buy the wide stuff if you don't have it already).
The cs is one of the SU blues that's being discontinued and the dp is from DCWV - citrus stack.
The ribbon for the stem and leaf are SU's old olive. It was upon seeing how badly this tafetta ribbon frayed that made me go for the shabby chic look by encouraging the fraying and distressing the edges.
Distressing was courtesy of Tim Holtz' distresser. The misc. flowers are from a McGill multi-flower punch. The pearls from A.C. Moore (Queen and Co.) Lovin' these pearls - you get 36 for a buck!
