I wanted to get started on my Father's Day card for my dad today. I used today's Ways to Use It challenge, WT272, Paint: to use any kind of paint (acrylics, tempera, watercolors, paint dabbers, crackle paint--anything except painting with ink). I first tried the Acrylic Smash technique, but didn't have the right type of ink (no acrylics) so it didn't go very well. Then I decided to just go with painting directly on card stock with poster paint. That made a nicely textured sky background!
I also used the sketch from today's Limelight Papercrafts Challenge, LLPC048, along with the challenge to use "fuzz and fluff" in your card. I first tried making fuzzy clouds with Fun Flock, but I wasn't able to get a thick enough layer of flock to make the clouds stand out and they looked pretty wimpy. So, in today's second "do-over" I did some freehand clipping with scraps of white felt to form my fluffy clouds. Much better!!
My parents have always been fascinated by hot air balloons, so I think my dad will get a real kick out of this card for Father's Day.

This is an awesome background, Emzi. Great job with the poster paint and it is a super sky. Love those felt clouds and I am just sure, without even knowing him, that your Dad will love this card, especially coming from his little girl. Yes, our parents still like to think of us as their babies, don't they? And, I rather like that. I love hot air balloons, also. Great card!!

Wow! Emily...you are amazing....talk about hanging in power! I am so glad you described all that...you make me feel better about process of creating!! Thanks so much for your honesty with this! lol I just love it. I love the fluffies (I want to touch them) and the images in your paint. The paint is so real of the sky...and the balloons...who would think of buttons! They are great with the different sizes. And I love that you put that much thought into what your dad likes while you created this. He is just going to love it and I bet (If I was Him) he will be so proud of your art! LOVING GOD, Samara Thank you Emily for sharing this!
