After months of talking about it, my sister and I finally picked a night to get together and make some cards. She arrived, we made tea, commented on the miserable wind that evening and headed into my "Rubber Room". Hadn't even managed to pick our cardstock and the power went out!! For four hours. Not to be deterred by a lack of light and the awful sounds of what became a raging blizzard outside, we got out some candles and set to the task at hand. We were pleasantly surprised that our paper/cardstock/ink and cards all looked pretty decent when we could actually see them.
So, here are my "cards by candlelight"...
For this one I coloured on my stamp with watercolour crayon, spritzed it and stamped. Background is done with a Spellbinders Impressabilities. This card is totally CASED from a card by darleenstamps that you can see here.
Thanks for stopping by!

....lovely card, Heather...I love that watercolour look. I hear it comes out even better when done by candlelight. I see you're on the prairies.....I'm in BC and after an unbelievably mild winter and a couple of weeks of Spring weather we woke up to 3 inches of snow the other day!!! Wierd weather.

...sure its got a catchy beat, but can you stamp to it?

Heather this is wonderful! Wow! Love all the little details. (My parents have been without power for 10 1/2 days now....they might have to wait for 2 more weeks yet....yikes!)

Dizzy, you're back at work and by candlelight at that. I know I owe you a pm. It's on my list of TTD (things to do in case you didn't figure that one out Dizz). Oh, how fun for you and your sister to just spend time, with tea and candlelight, in your rubber room!! I LOVE how your technique turned out on the flowers Diz. It's so good to see you are finally FOLLOWING THE PUNCHKATEER RULES and displaying your punching tallies!! And, you topped off at 5 punches. You must have lost a lot of weight that night working out with those puncheZ!! Loving that b/g embossing and your border punch too Diz!! We need to be on the lookout for our Prez Benzi as I come to find out, through the grapevine, that she may have purchased herself a Cricut. Now, I don't know about you, but I told her right off that die cuts from that DID NOT COUNT in her punch tally untill such time as you and I have one to use. Don't you think that's only fair since we were the original founders of this group of nutz???? She won't lose any weight letting the machine do all the work. Poor, poor Benz, she'll be so big, she won't be able to get out of her house and buy more punchez at this rate! What are we to do!! LOL! I'm going to try to get to the pm's tonight. Hugs Dizzy!

Terrific technique and effect with the watercolor crayons! I love this color combo too, it looks so fresh and is so suitable for spring. You are making me reconsider stamps I haven't played with in a long time, thanks so much!

I'd say this looks a whole lot better than just decent. It's gorgeous. Great job on the technique. I love that double punched strip and all the layers on this.
What fun to create with your sister and by candlelight. Here in Manitoba we were so happy that the storm didn't reach us.

Oh, Izzy, way to go on exercising with your punches!!!! This card is fantastic--even more so knowing that it was made by candlelight during a raging blizzard!!! How fun that you got to be creative while getting together with your sister. And that creating by candlelight sounds kinda fun, in a pioneer sorta way
Anyway, about your card!! Love the coral and olive color scheme, so pretty. Great distressing and super embossed background. Just love your work with the watercolor crayons and paper piercer. And the punches, the punches, the sweet, lovely punches!!! They all look super. What an awesome card and great read of a story to go with it. Terrific!! Punch ON, Punchkateer

Izzi, Frizzi, or whatever that name is, you sure work well by candlelight. I thought you had romance on your mind with all this candlelight talk. Glad you and your sis could carry on in partial darkness. And, it came out beautifully. I need to try that watercolor techinique. Your Impressabilitie is awesome. Good work.
