30 years ago, my favorite SIL gave me a mug with a wintry scene on it. This morning I was sipping Chai Tea and got an email from a very good friend that is dealing with a heavy heart right now. I wanted to do a card for her to express my love and support while she works through this sorrowful time. Then I saw the scene on the mug and new I had to try to recreate it. I used two different stamp sets and a mask/emboss/resist technique I learned from Michelle Zindorf. To create the snow I tore a Post-It-Note and masked the bottom third of white CS. Using Versa Mark Ink pad, I stamped Cornish Hearitage Farm's Scene It fence stamp along the torn edge then embossed with clear EP. Leaving the mask in place, I sponged on Soft Sky along the horizon line and then Bashful Blue starting at the top and not quite meeting the the Soft Sky. The clouds were created using a pattern I got from Pat Smethers. A black fine tip marker helps define the fence and a few sprigs of grass poking up through the snow. To had some light shadows to the grass I used a gray marker. I stamped the trees using two different stamp sets from Impression Obsession and Tim Holtz Black Soot ink. Then sponged creamy caremel over the tree images because that's what it looks like on the mug I used as inspiration. The sentiment is a rub on from Hobby Lobby's discount Isle. I mounted the image panel onto a scrap of Tan CS and using a black permanent marker drew on a fine black border. Mounted that onto a sheet of CS I received as a thank you for making an order with Cornish Heritage Farms. Added a scrap of ribbon and finally mounted that onto Vanilla CS.
