This is a computer generated image of a house of cards, caught by the photographer just as it was beginning to collapse. And so it sometimes is with things or friendships, not built on a solid foundation.
Today's Ways to Use It Challenge, #255, was to use textiles on our cards. I chose cheesecloth- what is more flimsy than that!
Underneath the main panel is a piece of torn & distressed paper vellum. Behind that is a panel of DP, which I textured with a crumpled piece of paper towel and black ink. Underneath that is the cheesecloth.
The piece seemed so dull, (since I am an obsessive color junkie, and I rarely make anything just black and white!) so I just had to add a bit of bling in the way of Stickles dotted around the sentiment, which reads, *Truth*.
This piece isn't going anywhere. I'll keep it as a reminder to myself, to be aware of building things on houses of cards.
Thank you for looking! Hope you like it!

Wow... a card with meaning is so much better than a card just made to make one... I love this.. I dont' think it is boring.. love the richness of the black and white... very nice contrast. The bling I think is just for you to be more comfortable with this card.. it is lovely... congrats on pulling this off.. .I don't think I could have.. A very strong lesson to learn in life... and a card that fits that situation.. very strong..

I love how you used cheesecloth as your textile!! It really adds a lot of texture, and is great for fraying for a distressed look. Your card packs quite a visual punch with that super contrast from black on white. Terrific work!

amazing words of wisdom, Maddy! I love the photograph and how your mixed media card advances the story. The gauze reminds me of looking through a window darkly. And the corners draw the eye right into your message. Excellent use of the challenge.

This is gorgeous! I mean GORGEOUS! I love distressed cards and this is wonderful. I never would have thought of cheesecloth and it does make a wonderful card.
