Our regular UPS delivery man always gives us great service--always ringing the bell to let us know he's leaving something, and if it's something heavy, he'll ring the bell and ask if we want it dropped off directly in the garage (where he knows it will be assembled!!) and will meet me there to drop it off. During the holidays when UPS is super busy and hires extra drivers, we never see him, so I've never been able to give him a gift at the holidays to thank him for his great service. I mentioned that to my husband the other day (after our UPS guy delivered a particularly heavy box--he waited until I came to the door and then set it inside for me so wouldn't have to lift it off the porch), and my hubby pointed out that we certainly don't need the holidays as an excuse to thank him. Why not do it the next time he comes?
I'm expecting a UPS delivery tomorrow, so I was inspired by last week's LSC255 (tiny card and tiny treat) to make a treat box (although it's not so terribly tiny) and a tiny card (it actually is quite tiny) to hand to my UPS guy tomorrow to say THANKS for all his great service!
I started by creating my own DP, stamping a sheet of golden vellum cardstock over and over with three Canadian postage stamp rubber stamps that I have (I bought these from an independent rubber stamp maker). I know that he doesn't handle regular postal stamped mail, but the postage stamp images were the closest stamps I had to anything remotely package-related!! Anyway, I cut and folded my sheet of handmade DP using the pattern for a 2-5-7-10 box. I deconstructed a piece of heavy duty twine for the tie. The card is from a scrap of vellum leftover from making the box and is embellished with two little gold eyelets.
I filled the box with wrapped Hershey's Bliss chocolates and wrote a note of thanks on the card to attach to the box.
Hopefully, I'll be able to catch him tomorrow to deliver his treats!!
Thanks for looking!
Emily

This looks AWESOME! You know, it looks like professionally printed gift wrap Emily. Those stamps ROCK! What a sweet gift, I am sure he appreciated it. You have inspired me to do the same for our UPS man (after I pass my test of course) - who I also did not see much around the holidays with the extra drivers working.

Love the stamps -- and a wonderful idea. Need to do something similar for our wonderful delivery man, perhaps adding a call or email to UPS to try to get word of appreciation to their supervisor!
