Hi! This card was made for today's Color Combo Challenge: Suede, light blue and ruby.
I saw this combo and thought, "Hmmmm...that sounds like a quilt that is on my bed!" So I rushed in and checked. Well, I was right! The quilt is OVER 100 years old...Try 125+ years. Because of it's age, some of the areas have become "aged" and are suede in color. I decided to take that idea and "aged" my card!
Burnt Umber and Cognac sponged together get a color so close to suede that I was giddy with excitement...Okay, it doesn't that a lot to get me excited when it comes to papercrafting...LOL I stamped the SUNflower in Burnt Umber and cut it out. Next, I sponged in Cognac for the center, and Moulin Rouge for the petals. I added in Cognac to AGE the Sunflower. The butterfly is a Spellbinders die. I cut it out, embossed it, and rubbed the Burnt Umber pad over the embossed areas. Next, I sponged on Palette Ink's Ballet Blue, it's VERY close to LIGHT blue. Next, I sponged in Cognac to "shabby it up!"
The lace border is a Spellbinders die that was cut and embossed. I sponged on Cognac and then used a sanding block to create highlights. I also sponged on Cognac and Burnt Umber onto the background papers.
