Don't you love it when the project turns out so much better than you pictured it?? (but don't you hate it when the photo doesn't give it justice?) I made this for my BIL, who was in need of some encouragement.
The frame is from Ikea, 5 1/2 inches square (I took out the glass for the photo). The ship is from Clear Dollar Smooth Sailing set-this is a great masculine set to have! I stamped it on watercolor paper, colored it with prismascolor pencils and baby oil, then put some packaging tape on the back (for strength) and cut it out. I used a needle to thread some brown thread for the rope lines.
I had this map image from a previous project, so printed it off again for the background. The waves I made from PTI ocean tides and SU Not Quite Navy, embossed using Divine Swirls, cut out and inked with white ink along the "waves". Then the assembly of the ocean started--each layer is popdotted or multi-popdotted for lots of dimension.
I printed off the quote using Dear Joe Four font onto Ocean Tides and matted it with Not Quite Navy.
Now my husband wants his own version! Maybe the next one will take less than five hours....
