I made this card for today's Way's to Use It Challenge, Let's go Caroling". We were to make a card inspired by a christmas song. Right after reading the challenge, the radio was playing Blue Christmas. I can't say it's my favorite Christmas song, but it's been in my head all day and makes me think of my son who is on the other side of the country from us and won't be home for the holidays. This is a fact that makes me a bit sad every time I think of it. He doesn't often get home for this holiday, but the two times he has made it back for Christmas have been joyous celebrations indeed. (The first year he moved out there my daughter flew him home as her gift to us and didn't not tell us he was coming. She wrapped a big box and he was under it. We never open gifts early but she insisted we open this one. I was SO surprised and I cried with joy!. Best gift ever!)
Back to the card. I did a card for Tuesday's Teapot challenge, using these colors and I loved the effect of this color combo so much that I just had to do another one!! I embossed the trees with white EP on white CS. I masked off the bottom of the card. Then I sponged on Lavendar Lace, Ballet Blue, Brilliant Blue and Night of Navy ink to create the sky. I used a white gel pen to make dots of snow and then stamped the snowflake from Dasher in white craft ink. I sponged in some snow drifts and added glitter and the bird from the greeting.

Oh, what a lovely story about your son being there as a surprise - brought a tear to my eye. As a family we paid for my BIL to fly back from Australia for one of his parent's landmark birthdays or anniversaries - just can't remember which, now. They got such a shock when he rang on the day, and then said "see you later...".
This is beee-autiful. I loved the TPT card, and love this too. And the little touch of green from the foliage is a great colour accent. Yet another one from this challenge for my favourites.
