My mom loved magnolias, and we used to 'forage' in the mountains of home and bring home little snippets of plants to grace our yards. I loved those times with my mom. A few years ago we were able to take her to Yosemite- it is less than two hours from our home. We had a lovely picnic under a grove of magnolias and her smile was so sweet- it came from the inside!
I was fortunate enough to spend the day with Tosh (Stamps4FuninCa) yesterday, and when we were done lunching and shopping, she showed me her magic with punches and flowers. Tosh manipulates the paper to make it soft, once the petals are punched, and uses a soft mat and stylus to make the flowers and leaves take form. I used her techniques today to make the magnolias from a MS flower punch. Once cut, I used a portion of the SU triple flower punch to add the divot in the bloom. I sponged the center and edges using So Saffron and added tiny gold beads to the centers.
The leaves were stamped using Terrific Tulips on Always Artichoke paper and the same color ink. I used an aqua pen to blend the color on the leaves, and when the leaves were still damp, I ran the stylus down the center to form the veins and gave the paper a soft twist to replicate the magnolia greenery.
The DP is from My Mind's Eye, Life Stories Collection.
Thanks for looking.

Beautiful flowers, must give that a try somehow! I don't have flower punches lol. You know what they say...where's a will there's a way! Love your vintage feel with the kraft, you are a darling and I missed you this morning. (sniff sniff) I made 2 cards though. So there might be a good side to not talking with you...not! Pulling your little leg again...how you worked your magic...I don't know! TFS Patti.

Wow, Pat, this is gorgeous! The flowers and leaves look so REAL! I am putting this in my faves, but I doubt I could ever do a decent case of it! This is also a beautiful representation of the inspiration piece!

Beautiful, Pat. I really like the little gold beads in the centres of those gorgeous flowers. I love magnolias, too - we always go to see them when they are out in the Botanic Gardens, and I don't know how many photos I have at this stage. I must try that dampening leaves before I shape them another time.
