please forgive the bad photos - my camera is slowly dying....
We have one wall in our living room that is a rust pumpkin color so I painted a stretched canvas with the paint - used the medium tree in Chocolate and the saying is small in the khacki color

I love this! I hadn't purchased any of these decals because I didn't want them on my wall (what if I change my mind? want it somewhere else?) -- and this is the perfect answer to that. Lovely!

I love the idea and your project. Did you have to put something behind the canvas part so you could rub the DE on it? I'm going to have to try this. I already know I want the grow chart but don't want it on a wall either (in case you paint - what do you do then) so I'm going to put that on a board of some sort.

I will have to measure the size of the canvas - I know I had the dimensions of the tree and went to Micheals (with my 40% off coupon) and found a premade one that just fit the dimensions...the tree stem wraps around the bottom a small bit...
I used regular wall paint to paint the canvas.
I will say rubbing the tree on the canvas took a lot of time (and some not so nice words from my mouth) - I had to work slowly and spent a lot of time with my hand up under the area I was rubbing....looking back I would have found some hardbacked books and put them under the canvas in the area I was rubbing...
I did have to work a small area at a time and with certain leaves I did have to tease it off the backing and smooth it down on the canvas -
After the tree went down I rubbed all the edges down well with my fingers. I liked the size of the quote - perfect for the tree...
