The fabulous Anna Wight (SweetMissDaisy on SCS) invited me to do a challenge with her. What could be more fun than that?! Here's our challenge:
Playing Favorites: Create your piece using one of your favorite stamps or stamp sets, your favorite coloring technique, with your favorite piece of designer paper.
I chose this lovely rooster stamp given to me by my friend Marlien. He is made by Judi Kins and is so versatile--great for masculine or feminine birthdays, "just because," Father's Day, etc.
Watercoloring is my favorite technique, although I must say it usually ends up being my favorite technique when somebody else (such as Anna Wight) is using it! I have a real love/hate relationship with it. Anyways, I watercolored the rooster and then applied some metallic rub-ons with Q-Tips to his feathers. To create the sheen of real rooster feathers, I applied some Star Dust Stickles glitter glue to his blue feathers.
For my favorite piece of designer paper, I chose TWO (ha!--cheating on my own challenge). I've used the dark brown piece before. It's by Deja Views from the Sharon Ann Timeless Collection and is called "Brown Quilt." I thought it went so well with My Mind's Eye Magnolia paper that I couldn't resist pairing them.
All edges were sponged with Close to Cocoa ink and faux stitched using a tracing wheel and ruler (a la Anna) . . . one of my favorite ways to "finish" a card.
I thought this sketch seemed familiar and finally tracked it back to the Dirty Dozen Fan Club play-along in September of 2008. So thanks, Cindy, for the great sketch, nearly a year later!

Very pretty! Great watercoloring and looks so good with this ef and the use of the tracing wheel. I also really like the colors on this card.

Absolutely beautiful! Love the colors, and those papers are perfect together! I also really love the textured layer -- what a perfect addition to this card! Really beautiful! And thank so much for playing along with me in this challenge! Can't wait for our next one! =) -Anna.

Wow this is STUNNING! I love the way the Rooster is colored and all that sparkle is just beautiful. You and Anna both created some really fun cards for your "Favorites" challenge.
