I have to call this my 'Happy Accident'. I hope the challenge police don't come calling! I only had ONE color acrylic paint (a dark sage color), and no metallic paints at all, but I really wanted to play, so I winged it and this is what happened....
I started by applying the acrylic paint all over a piece of True Thyme cardstock. Then I smoothed it out with a sponge. I had totally forgotten about the toilet paper part, so I ran and got some tp and dabbed it into the paint and it wasn't sticking! It made the ink globby and I didn't like that look. I smoothed it out again and drew lines in it with a bone folder. I then used my heat gun to set it up a little...added some 'globs' of gold with a painty pen and let it dry. Much to my surprise, it just looks like faux leather! I'm happy with that!
So Lynn.... I tried, but it didn't quite come out looking as cool as yours . Not complaining though as the color and texture I achieved looks exactly like my DH's golf club bag!

Oh well, you did do a father's day card now! It's beautiful. The card police is on vacation I believe... Love the border and the fine image and yes the acrylic too. TFS

I think this is how most new techniques are born....when the ones we are doing don't quite cooperate! Looks awesome!! Bet it has a great color and texture that the regular faux leather doesn't have!! The name you gave your card, Faux Father's Day, really made me chuckle!! That was my day yesterday. Thought it was Father's Day all day until about 7 pm. Made DH big breakfast, T-bones for dinner, mumbling under my breath about ungrateful children.....you get the idea!
Anyway...enough of my rambling! Love this cute card. The accents on the punched border are a really cool touch!! Great job!! (as always!!!)
