Week #5 in the Scripture Challenge SCRC209: Change
"After doing a study on the week's word, I decided that I couldn't just pick one verse. I enjoyed the study so much I picked out my favorites and made a little mini album. My own little concordance to turn to when needed. It has all my favorite verses on the word and it amazes me that each study shows how GOD exhibits the theme and how He shows us how to live a life that follows His example. And the good news: it all leads to eternal life with Him. 2 Peter 1:3-11 "
Change:
To lay aside, abandon, or leave for another. The act, process, or result of altering or modifying.
A transformation or transition from one state, condition, or phase to another.
Synonyms: alter, modify, make different, cause a transformation, vary, shift, switch, convert, deviate
“Webster’s defines change as becoming different, to replace, to pass from one phase to another. Change can be very tough. We grieve for what is no more. Our lives are filled with change as we get married, have children, send our children to school for the first time, change jobs, deal with aging parents, become empty nesters, begin retirement, etc. Through change there are two things that we can always count on:
**God will always give us the strength we need.
**God never changes. He is our constant. He is always there -- today and for all eternity.
If we trust God with our eternal fate, why is it so hard to trust Him through times of change? Every change we go through means God still has something for us to do. Ask Him to make it count. Is there an area in your life where you need to change so that others can see Christ through you? Is there an area where you need to truly trust God as you go through a change?”
Patter Cross, “Triple the Scraps”
(Thanks Patter! I quoted your study. I thought what you said was truly inspired and wonderful.)
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8
1 Samuel 15:29 “He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change His mind; for He is not a man, that He should change His mind.”
Psalm 110:4 “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind”
Malachi 3:6 “I the Lord do not change.”
James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Exodus 3:14, 15 “I AM …The Lord, the God of your fathers -- the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob …This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.”
Psalm 113:2 “Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and evermore.”
Our circumstances change, our world changes, our lives change Â… Our God does not change. We can always rely on His word, His peace, His love, His covenant, His Sovereignty, His righteousness, His faithfulness, His salvationÂ…:
1 Peter 1:25 “The word of the Lord stands forever.” quoted from Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.”
1 Kings 2:33 “…may there be the Lord’s peace forever.”
Psalm 107:1 “Give thanks to the Lord , for He is good; his love endures forever.”
1 Chronicles 16:15 “He remembers his covenant forever”
Psalm 29:10 “The Lord is enthroned as King forever.”
Psalm 111:3 “His righteousness endures forever.”
Psalm 146:6 “…the Lord, who remains faithful forever.”
Isaiah 51:6 “Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.”
1 Thess. 4:17 “And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
How can we accept these unchanging promises?
Matthew 18:3 “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
John 1:12 “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
