A few days ago, it occurred to me that today is my Dad's birthday! Ooops! Manly cards are hard enough to do, and I put myself in a bind by not even having one ready to send in time! Then I remembered... I ordered this Chevy Family Bel Air stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms last week to use for an upcoming event at the store! (Yes, I'm having another Card Buffet this month, and ordered this stamp for one of the card designs.) I knew it would be perfect for a card for my Dad, as he is a die-hard Chevy man, so I waited for this stamp to arrive to make his card.
For inspiration, I turned to the Weekend Sketch Challenge, being hosted this week on Jenn Balcer's blog. I really love how the Houndstooth-embossed panel turned out in the background! Does it remind you of upholstery? The silver strip of cardstock is to make you think of the chrome on the bumpers. I hesitated to add the ribbon, but felt the tag needed to be "anchored" somehow and since this ribbon has the stitching down the middle, I thought it might make one think of the roadway, and decided to use it!
I know my Dad was always fond of the classic cars he has owned over the years, so I hope this card will be meaningful to him!
