Look forgivingly on this .
Today's TLC was Gesso Resist. I remembered to buy some gesso on Monday, as Lynn had forewarned us we would need it.
But, this seems to me to be a technique that lends itself to a distressed look, and that is something I just cannot carry off. But I'll give anything I can a try once, so here we are.
I gessoed my magazine page, and when it was dry I stamped the dragonfly with Versamark and embossed with clear EP. Then I stamped the grasses with Versafine Olympia Green, and wiped the ink off the dragonfly. Then I sponged the paper with ColorBox inks in brown, green and blues. Distressed the edges and sponged them with brown. Layered it onto some green Bazzill and sponged the edges with brown. As I was miles out my comfort zone I added the spiral clip which I have had for years because I don't know how to use them. I also added 3 little pearl buttons which I've also had for years. Never used them either, because they only have one hole in them, so how do you stitch them on? I threaded fine wire through some green metallic beads and used those to fill in the centre of the button things. The base layer is Basic Grey Porcelain, and the finished card is 5 3/4 square.
Oh yes, you wouldn't believe how few silhouette stamps I have, too!! But it kept me occupied while two shots from the dentist wore off - and at last I can eat. I am starving, LOL.

I'm so glad you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone because this really turned out beautifully. It's a wonderful example of this technique. Good for you!!!

Sabrina, In looking at this card, I would never have known that it was out of your comfort zone. I am simply amazed at how beautiful it is! I love everything you have done here! I also don't think I have any silhouette stamps. I'll have to dig around and maybe there is something I can use. Anyway, I LOVE your card!
