This challenge had me stumped for quite awhile. I didn't have an iron available. My oldest daughter needed it for a prop for a play that she is performing in this week. I then thought about my curling iron, but that I figured was just too small. I have never done the melted crayon technique and it intrigued me.
So for most of the day I sat at work thinking about it in the back of my head. Then I decided I would line my electric skillet with foil and scribble the crayons on the foil while the skillet was hot. I then placed the paper on top of that and used a drinking glass to press the paper into the melted wax of the crayons. I was impressed with the outcome.
For the crayons that I used, I used several different colors of blue and one green. I chose those colors because this week I saw someone's scrapbook page on SCS that had bluebonnets on it. That made me think of a bluebonnet background. There were white spots when I was finished and I decided to use my chalks to add a light blue to those areas.
After I melted the crayons, I stamped over the background with black stazon using my brushed florals stamp. I then added two monarch butterflies.(no surprise) and finished it off with three little brads. What do you think?

MariLynn, Are you kidding me? The electric skillet! Now, thats what I call... "thinking outside of the box".
Well, it worked! You have given a whole new meaning to "melted crayons". And your card is beautiful!
