Cindy's cooky jar this morning http://mothermark.blogspot.com/2009/...uesday-38.html made me so hungry thinking of all the things I love making with strawberries - strawberry shortckake, meringues with strawberries and cream, swiss roll with strawberries and cream, strawberry icecream, those little French open tartlets with custard, then strawberries and apricot glaze...warm chocolate puddings with creme anglaise and strawberries, layered fruit jelly...
So I got baking and made some jam tarts to bring to tea, because actually I never buy strawberries till my birthday. I used to love making these when I was little - we had two trays for baking tarts that came from Canada, and had maple leaves embossed in the bottom of each one. Oh yes - that's a little strawberry plant just starting to grow in the pot in the picture too. It's been so warm here today - had my skylight window open till almost six o clock.
The base is 5 3/4" square. Then there is a layer of gingham mulberry tissue. The Penny Black image was stamped with Versafine Black and coloured with watercolour pencils. There is some Glossy Accents here and there, especially to make the jam tarts nice and shiny and appetizing. Punched the corners, added little gems and popped it up on foam.
I couldn't find the ribbon I was looking for, so it's second best, but at least the red spots tie it in. A Spellbinders Ribbon tag and the sentiment from Birthday Whimsy finish the card off. Birthday cards are always useful.
Thanks for having us all round again, Cindy.

Delightful image. Don't think I have ever seen gingham mulberry paper. Like how you have used it. I hope everyone will get in line nicely for your yummy sounding tartlets as I wouldn't want to miss getting one.

There is nothing better than red and white gingham to make a card clean and crisp like yours! It is simply precious! I am glad you made this a birthday card cuz now I know you will use it! Hee!
Thanks for coming again! I appreciate the link to my challenge too! It would not be the same without you!

Oh, this is sooooo cute!!! LOVE that gingham!! I have never seen anything like that before. And the ribbon tag is so cool!
I'm glad I'm not the only one with baking on the mind this time... I really was going to try to go the "cookie" route with this one, but I don't have any stamps that are cookies, and was not feeling creative at all to make up something. So your tarts are very much loved at the teaparty! I came late, still bringing strawberries, which I'm sure everyone has had enough of!! LOL
