Having been so inspired by Susie B's gorgeous Gallery and the way she uses pencils and Gamsol to colour her images, I thought I would have a go and this is my first card using this technique. Here is a link to Susie's gallery - be prepared to be inspired!! Susie B's Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
This card is for my best friend's son's 7th Birthday. Attach dp to turquoise cs, then cut circle of aqua cs and run thru Cuttlebug using Happy Birthday embossing folder and attach to dp. Stamp 7 candles with Stazon ink pad onto Watercolour paper and colour using pencils and Gamsol. I played around with several different brands of pencils on scrap WC paper and found that my Derwent Artists pencils work the best for me. Outline candles with Touch Blue Grey pen. Layer image onto aqua and orange cs and attach to card using 1mm mounts. Stamp Wish onto a handcut Star and mount using 2mm mounts. Attach ribbon and add Kindyglitz clear sparkle to rhs of candles and edge of star.
I am used to watercolouring with acrylic paint so this technique took some getting used to, but it was fun and found that a little bit of colouring goes a long way, otherwise your image will be swamped and have no lighter areas.
