I wanted to make a card especially for the monthly theme. I have two embroidery-based cards which count as central theme, but I didn't make them specifically with it in mind. There aren't many rooms in the house without some sort of cross-stitch, needlepoint, crewel or tapestry in them.
One of the other things that definitely makes a house a home is books, but I was having trouble basing a card on that!
And music is another. I still remember about 13 or 14 years ago when DH's brother's niece was still just a baby, and DH asked his brother would they not think of getting a piano, now that they'd moved into a larger house. The reply was that he hoped his daughter wasn't going to end up doing anything **** like playing the piano. And of course, she started when she was about 5 and is still playing .
I thought this would do for an anniversary card for DH. The guitar is for him, the piano is for me.
The base is some K&Co Christmas paper, embossed with a script ef and brushed with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. The strips of piano are from a sheet of paper I picked up at a show I don't know how long ago! They're mounted onto green Bazzill. The base layers for the guitar charm and sentiment are a Stampendous stamp on cream card. The charm is layered onto an embossed circle. It was silver, but to match the card I wiped it with Versamark and embossed it with gold. The sentiment is stamped onto cream card and layered onto music. The note punch was great - I was so regretting that I had given mine away, and in an order that arrived today, guess what was tucked in as a little freebie!! And it's much nicer than the one I gave away.
Sorry for rambling, TFL.
