This is my card for Cindy's teaparty today - see her blog here: http://mothermark.blogspot.com/2009/...uesday-31.html
I was thinking about this pot in work today, and I was thinking I don't remember those little pots with what look like auriculae and candelabra primulae. Peter Rabbit went after cabbages and carrots and suchlike. And in the process, he lost his clothes running away, and Mr McGregor used them to dress his scarecrow.
Now, with a whole A-Z of cross-stitched Beatrix Potter characters, wouldn't you have thought that I would have had Peter Rabbit in his blue jacket? I would too, but turns out I didn't. However, that is Peter Rabbit wrapped up in the big red cotton handkerchief, as featured in The Tale of Benjamin Bunny. And luckily, the colours in my cross-stitch went well with the pastel colours in the teapot.
I scanned the embroidery, scaled it down and printed it. I printed a bit of extra Aida cloth for the sentiment.
Sponged the edges and layered it up on Core'dinations card. I stamped the pot from Blooming with Love twice on a scrap of card, sponged them with ColorBox Pigment Cocoa Brown and cut them out.
Using Marvy Markers I stamped the bottom half of the topiary from Blooming with Love at each side on the bottom. That is to be those red things that look to me like candelabra primulae, I just ignored the auriculae because I don't have any stamp that could look like them. Then I just added the sentiment on a Labels 1 cut from my spare *Aida cloth* and a little robin coloured with markers. Where did he sneak into the picture from ? - I need to get my book out and take a close look at the pictures. I think the makers of Cindy's sweet teapot may have taken some poetic licence - but so did I. Poetic justice, if you like.
TFL.

Sabrina, that little robin just wanted to enjoy the flowers in your garden. Your garden, I am sure, is much nicer than Mr. McGregor's Garden. I love the cross stitched Peter Rabbit. What a great idea to use it in this way. I think you want my Mrs McGiver title. I love the shading on your flower pots. Great card!!!!

You guys are killing me with your creativity! You will stop at nothing to come up with the most appropriate card! I love what you did here! Two of your skills are shining through! Lovely little pots, the birdie too! Amazing!
Its a little embarrassing have a nude bunny running around especially as more bunnies show up, you know how they multiply!! We might have to send the leftover bees out for a trip to the scarecrow to fetch some clothes back....but we will see, time will tell!

Right - I took a close look at the pictures in the book. Those things that look like Auriculae on Cindy's teapot ought to be geranium or pelargonium leaves, and that's probably what the red flower is too. And I found a robin too, but he was in a carrot picture, not the one where the flower pots are knocked over.

Whoa! You are doing your research! I think the flowers in the pots on the pot are geraniums.....maybe that birdie flew over from the carrot picture because he heard there was a nude bunny running around!

The Photographer needs to give us nice close-ups of all the little details . My eyesight isn't that bad yet - my optician says it's still another few years before I need bifocals. (Only joking, his pictures are great )

I actually thought the same thing when I uploaded this. Very hard to see the little birdie! And the flowers.....Maybe I will send some leftover bees over to whip the Photographer into shape! Snort!
Yikes! All my luck I'd get chased by an outa control bee too!

Very cute, love the scanned cross stitch image. Looks so real, I was thinking you were pretty quick to have already cross stitched these sweet bunnies. Great job.
