Just as I was getting ready to make a card for this week’s Limited Supply Challenge (LSC204), DH came down to my studio to ask me to make a sympathy card to send to a friend of his whose dog had died overnight. I couldn’t have pulled out more appropriate colors – black, tan, and brown – which I had planned to use with a bright blue ribbon to make a card with a brown finch perched on a sign post.
I quickly shifted gears and hereÂ’s what I came up with. Because I wanted a masculine card, I inked the edges of my panels and did not add any decorative punched trim. The ribbon I used is a woven fabric ribbon printed with paw prints that I tied in a simple knot. I added plain black brads and some punched paw prints and dog bones as my only other embellishments.
Since this card needed to be mailed out today, I completed the inside and DH signed it. I used a computer generated message and stamped sentiment. I used a very light (Dune) ink to stamp and clear emboss paw prints to emphasize the message and added the same punched paw prints I used on the cover.

Mel, we are in the same situation as you and I am dreading the day as much as you are. We have four dogs, three with significant medical problems. One had a 7 hour brain operation this past summer (his second neurosurgery). Our 'GI' dog spent the day yesterday in the hospital. Our little cardiac girl, a rescue we took as a foster and then kept since no one would adopt her - she came to us in end stage heart failure, is stable for now. And we have one who is blessedly healthy. But every day with these furkids is a gift.
