The first challenge of the January Mini “Crush” VSN was to make a “Save the Date Card” for any upcoming event. We always plan a fun event in our garden during the week of the Country Garden summer Pond and Garden Ttour.
Our garden is featured on that tour and since the garden is at it's peek then and all of the hoses are put away and everything is neatened up for the garden to be open to the public, we always try to host a social event in the garden the same weekend. This challenge motivated me to discuss with my husband what kind of party we should have this summer. We settled on a Hawaiian Luau and I made this card to announce that event.
I used the catÂ’s eye ink pad to apply ink directly to the sand to simulate the marks left in the sand by the tide receding, I used green glitter to color the Penguin ChickÂ’s skirt and markers to color her bathing suit top, hair flower, and the Penguin DudeÂ’s swimming trunks. The sign was cut with the Cricut Exprssion to which I added the party information. The text is computer generated with the Fiolex Girls font. The umbrella was from a package of food picks I had left over from a party.
PS... If you'd like to see pictures of the garden, visit my blog and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page - it's really an amazing garden, and yes, we did design and build it ourselves! www.seasiderosecottage.blogspot.com
