I made this card using today's sketch for the Holiday Extravaganza. I decided to make it into a card for the central theme this month too. For my obscure holiday I chose International Migratory Bird Day - http://holidayinsights.com/other/birdday.htm.
I used French Flair and the bird from Carte Postale for the background layer, stamped on BG Mellow with Versamark, and chalked with green chalk. For the next layer I used the Birds and Swirls embossing folder on acetate. I sponged the back with a bit of white StazOn just to add some definition, scalloped the edges and then went around them with a Sakura Glaze pen. The next layer is more BG Mellow, but in fact it's tucked under the acetate, not over it. And the last layer is a Rhonna Farrer Flourish and a bird from Flourishes Birds & Vines, stamped on more of the Mellow with Brilliance inks. I added 4 green Kaiser pearls in the corners of the top panel, and a little red stay-at-home bird tucked down in the bottom corner. Oh - and some BG velvet ric-rac, too.
Not sure what occasion it is suitable for, but I enjoyed making it.

WOWZERS! This card is absolutely spectacular! There is so much to feast your eyes on! I especially love the little red bird hiding in the corner. My parent's are big birders, and they would totally appreciate this card for any occassion.
