The *front* of the bookmark - a punched cardinal on a medallion.
The *back* of the bookmark - A very simple brayered scene
Directions and Credits:
Create the bookmark.
· Basic Bookmark: 4” square of Whisper White cardstock.
· Fold two adjacent corners to the middle.
Create the medallion and cardinal for the front of the bookmark.
To create the medallion:
· Cut a 2 ¾” square of Brilliant Blue cardstock
· Center each side on the Scallop Edge punch (punch once per side)
To create the cardinal:
· Punch a 1 ¾” circle out of Real Red cardstock
· Put the red punched circle into LARGE OVAL punch to finish the cardinal’s body
· Punch one 5-Petal Flower out of Real Red cardstock (2 petals will be the tail and one will be the wing)
· Punch one 5-Petal Flower out of Summer Sun cardstock (one petal will be the beak). A ¼” square would also work.
· Punch one ¾” square out of Basic Black cardstock (for “nose/face”)
· For the eyes stack two Basic Black cardstock circles punched with the pig nose (Double Circle) punch.
· Attach red tail on the back of the cardinal body
· Attach red wing on front of the body
· Attach about 1/3” of the black square to face and trim the excess
· Attach the eye
· Attach the yellow beak to the back of the body.
Add the cardinal to the blue medallion (turned on point – on the diagonal) and attach to the front of the bookmark. Note: Attach the medallion onto the folded triangles and NOT to the bottom of the bookmark.
